I can hear the passion in the paragraph of how stupid people sound when trying to make an obvious statement. I really like your blog and your extended comments and how it's true that people have been comfortable with our white presidents because all of them have been white! Shaking things up with the first black president...but he's not FULLY black as some whites may look at and feel more comfortable with!Emily Q.T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12681106888856447972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489712113925169357.post-52770058957516423592011-03-31T10:47:09.597-07:002011-03-31T10:47:09.597-07:00I agree as well that if children are placed in bet...I agree as well that if children are placed in better schools and environments that they would become more successful. I also agree that a lot more is expected of black people in order for them to become successful. My question is that where is the line, how is it determined what is better or what is success? If we move the less fortunate into better neighborhoods and schools are we just pushing them to conform to the "white culture of power" or are we really helping them? Why is it that in order for society to consider a black person successful he/she must fit the white cultural appearance and norms as best as possible. I just think the whole culture of power needs to be re-evaluated and all of the cultures need to form one giant culture before anything can be resolved. I don't know if that made sense but...Alycia Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09231619010911678153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489712113925169357.post-5738245175879263232011-03-28T17:11:31.016-07:002011-03-28T17:11:31.016-07:00I really liked it when Wise mentioned it and I lik...I really liked it when Wise mentioned it and I liked it when you mentioned it. If Bush had a different skin color, would the "most insanely over praised moron" have been elected? We may never know for sure, but we can take some pretty good guesses.<br />I also agree with you when you say the children are influenced by their parents into disliking school.Levellshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06887650983164322471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489712113925169357.post-19466754814838612932011-03-28T09:34:24.258-07:002011-03-28T09:34:24.258-07:00I think im going to use your blog in my post...hop...I think im going to use your blog in my post...hope you dont mind :)Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10081810146348884683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489712113925169357.post-24832937213098911102011-03-28T07:57:13.606-07:002011-03-28T07:57:13.606-07:00I completely agree with you Amanda. People really...I completely agree with you Amanda. People really do give way more credit to white students than they do to black students and it's really sad to say that. People need to work with one another and learn from each other.Sarah :)https://www.blogger.com/profile/00949219188990685494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489712113925169357.post-2499575823738840152011-03-27T19:58:44.847-07:002011-03-27T19:58:44.847-07:00I hope you don't mind that I used your blog as...I hope you don't mind that I used your blog as an extended comment. If you look at my blog you will see that I know how it feels, from a child's perspective, to grow up hoping I can continue to live in a house and not on the street.Amanda Picardihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07951250969042696352noreply@blogger.com
